Your own sounds to the FM-1, over the USB cable. Works in Chrome or Edge with OG Synth installed; allow MIDI when the browser asks.
Sounds and banks (.syx)
Six-operator FM sounds and banks (DX7 .syx) go to FM6. A bank opens the DX7 BANK window on the FM-1: SELECT picks a place from 1 to 8, SEL saves, HOME cancels. A single sound plays right away; keep it with SAVE.
Phase distortion sounds (CZ-101, 1000, 3000 and 5000 .syx) go to PHASE and play right away. A file with a whole CZ bank can go to the FM-1's memory (the CZ BANK window: SELECT picks a place from 1 to 16, SEL saves), or just one of its sounds.
The FM-1's own sounds
The 128 original FM-1 sounds (PIANO, ORGAN … FX) live in DX7 banks 1–4, places 5–8 are free. This puts them back in places 1–4 straight away, with no window on the FM-1. Whatever is there gets replaced.
WAVE tables (.wav)
Wavetables from the usual software synths, up to 63 frames, into one of three places, USER 1–3, of the WAVE engine. It plays in OSC A right after sending. Keep the sound with SAVE; the table itself stays in the FM-1's memory.
Table editor
Draw a frame with the mouse or a finger. The bars are harmonics 1–32: drag them up or down, the rest keeps its phase. The strip at the bottom holds the frames of the table, up to 63: click one to pick it. Morph fills in frames from the picked one to the next. Sending goes to the place chosen above.
